Hi! I’m Colleen.

Pull up a virtual chair and let’s talk design.

My design journey is anything but conventional, but just like our homes are made up of different pieces, so are our life stories. I became an interior designer and started my own business to do something that I was passionate about and because I saw a gap in the market that I could fill. I recognized that not all clients wanted traditional full-service design—they wanted help with specific rooms in their homes instead. So that’s what I decided to do; I would help my clients turn their house into a home one personally crafted room at a time.

I’m here to help you make sense of what can feel like an incredibly overwhelming design process. I get it—even picking out a sofa can feel like the world is caving in around you. But you’re not alone anymore. Let’s work together so you can get out of your head and into design. I promise if you let me work in my zone of genius, you can start getting back to yours!

My Interior Design Background

While I went to school for Psychology and Social Work, I always knew I had a passion for design, but I wouldn’t tap into that until later in my journey.

For the first seven years of my professional career, I worked as a Social Worker until I decided to make the leap and go back to school to get my Interior Design Certification through the New York Institute of Art and Design (NYIAD) online program. During my time at NYIAD, I interned for a high-end design firm in Niwot, Colorado, where I received hands-on experience and worked under seasoned designers. After graduating with my certification, I started working for Crossville Studios, a Boulder-based boutique tile and stone design center. The idea for Home Craft Design was born from working at Crossville Studios alongside some of the most seasoned interior designers, contractors, architects, and amazing clients.

If there’s one thing I know for sure, it’s that when you trust an interior design expert with your space, you’ll have a partner by your side who can help you figure out where to start, hone in on your design style, and tell you the best places to shop. By the time your design project is complete, your requests will have been met and your expectations will have been exceeded.

“Colleen is organized with her presentations and information, extremely easy to communicate with, straightforward, respects your budget, and overall is incredible to work with.”

How Design and Psychology Are Connected

Design psychology is everything. Once you get to know who someone is and the important aspects that make up their life, you can start to understand what influences their style, the kind of space they want to be in, and how they want to feel in that space. My background in Psychology allows me to go to a deeper design level with my clients so that I can create a home for them that feels welcoming, inspiring, and just like what they imagined and more.

Design is a people industry. So when designing, I take into account social cues, body language, things you like and don’t like, and where you’re from. It’s an intimate business that requires you to read the people in a room and learn all about them.

FAMILY LOVE

Where You Can Find Me When I’m Not Designing!

I’m a proud mom of two and my children are my main priority. So when I’m not working, you can find me spending the majority of my days with my kids and my husband.

They fill me up and are my biggest cheerleaders and support system! Outside of art, design, and home life, I’m out enjoying nature and imagining beachside life with a good glass of red wine.

I love working with families because I understand first hand wanting your house to look gorgeous with all of the latest trends BUT also wanting it to function well and survive the never-ending wear and tear of having kids.

So, not only do I have a knack for knowing how to put a budget to good use, but I understand what a deep honor it is to be invited into someone’s home and, ultimately, into their life.
