Bringing the Outdoors Into Your Home Design

I want one room to function as several. I want each room to tell a story all while collectively, making the whole house a home. I want the space I designed to bring safety and inspiration and a place you do not want to escape from. And since the pandemic we are spending more time at home. Let’s live in a place we do not want to escape from.

Incorporate natural elements into home design

Nature is defined by all the animals, plants, and other things in the world that are not made by people and all the events and processes that are not caused by people.

Since it’s not always possible to spend all day every day outdoors, it’s important that we find ways to still experience all of nature’s benefits within our homes and workspaces—especially since a lot of us spend more time at home and indoors these days. Even adding small touches and elements from the outside world into our home can bring more peace and serenity, as well as beauty, to our daily lives. Because we can have both!

How to Incorporate More Nature into Your Home’s Design

If you’re looking for creative ways to incorporate more natural elements into your home design, we have some ideas to help you get started:

  • Brighten up your home with houseplants

  • Hang a eucalyptus from your shower head

  • Find ways to let in more natural light

  • Create each space with purpose and intention (i.e., make it extra cozy!)

  • Decorate with wood or sustainable items like bamboo or reclaimed wood

  • Accessorize with textiles or natural fibers that reflect nature

  • Put up some fun nature-themed wall art

  • Paint your walls bold colors like dark green or navy blue

  • Use funky and nature-inspired wallpaper (Anthropologie is my go-to!)

Craft Your Sanctuary with the Right Home Design

At Home Craft Design, one of our core values is remembering to bring the outdoors in. When nature is as soothing as it is, you want your space to be filled with those kinds of beautiful aesthetics that feel good and provide a sense of safety and calmness. This is how you can bring out the very best in your space so that it can fulfill your needs, fit your lifestyle, and become your personal safe haven where beautiful memories are made.
